Location: Limassol, Cyprus (Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days remote after probation)
Salary: Up to โฌ65,000 gross
Working hours: MondayโFriday, 08:30โ17:30

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on Database Administrator (DBA) with a strong production background. This is not a software engineering or general IT role, we are specifically looking for candidates with at least 3+ years of dedicated DBA experience.
The successful candidate will take full ownership of database environments, ensuring performance, availability, scalability, and security across production systems. You will work closely with Development and DevOps teams but must be confident operating independently and managing critical database infrastructure end-to-end.
Core Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and optimise production and development databases
- Manage and support MongoDB (primary focus), MySQL, and PostgreSQL environments
- Monitor performance, query efficiency, storage, and system health
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and high-availability strategies
- Perform root-cause analysis and resolve production database issues
- Collaborate with engineering teams on schema design and query optimisation
- Ensure database security, access control, and compliance standards are met
- Develop automation scripts for operational efficiency (Python/Bash)
- Continuously improve performance, reliability, and scalability of systems
- Evaluate and explore emerging database technologies (e.g. Redis, Druid, cloud-native DBs)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3+ years experience as a DBA (midโsenior level)
- Strong expertise in MongoDB (replica sets, sharding, performance tuning)
- Solid experience with MySQL (indexing, query optimisation, replication, backups)
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Strong understanding of Linux environments
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Percona Toolkit)
- Scripting experience in Python and/or Bash for automation
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of systems
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
